Lattes To Negronis – Why We’re Lingering At Massilia In Santa Monica

Massilia is a new concept from the team behind Zinque -- a French-influenced bistro slash wine bar that Angelenos can't help but adore. The founder of this local micro-chain, Emmanuel Dossetti, is originally from Marseille and, for his next project, decided to open a Marseille-inspired restaurant right in the heart of Santa Monica.

The indoor-outdoor spot is the perfect location for a work date over lattes that turns to a friend hang over drinks hours later. The restaurant offers Mediterranean food -- with dishes from Italy, France, Spain and Morocco -- where there's a special emphasis on the quality of ingredients. Here's why you need to book a table ASAP...

Massilia food

What We Ate: Inspired by the cuisines of Southern France, Italy, Spain and Morocco, the menu is packed with options as healthful as they are flavorful. In the morning, nothing is better than a bite of their avocado egg white breakfast taco or smoked salmon toast on gluten-free chickpea socca bread that's made in-house daily. For lunch, we're all about their salads and grain bowls. For dinner, we're obsessed with their incredible array of veggie plates to share or delicious proteins like chicken tajine -- with their dedicated Negroni menu at arms-reach.

Why We Ate It: The menu has something for every palette, for every hour of the day. Mostly, we're here for the ambiance -- and the food is our excuse to linger all day. Think velvet banquettes, sweeping ceiling heights and a bar that belongs on an old Hollywood movie set. The outdoor seating area is enveloped by trees and major modern Euro vibes. Open from 7am to 2am daily, once you've arrived it's hard to find a reason to leave.

Why You Need It: We love a restaurant that we can hang out in all day -- where you can go from salads and oat milk lattes right into negronis and dinner. Bring your laptop and get your hustle on while being transported to a dreamy Euro heaven, then invite your friends to join you for a feast of deliciously cultured fare.
