Transformative Travel: Here’s What Happens Inside A 7-Day Mind-Body Wellness Retreat

As if you needed an excuse to pack up and head to Maui. In their latest offering, the founders of SHIFT Mind Body Spirit are bringing their luxury wellness experience to the Four Seasons Maui at Wailea this fall. From September 15 - 21, SHIFT founders Nicole Fogel and Lori Harris have planned the ultimate week of what they call "transformative travel" -- a mix of mindful awareness, fitness motivation, holistic nutrition and spiritual healing.

After Nicole's own experience with a chronic autoimmune condition, she found herself on a profoundly healing journey through travel, mindfulness, nutrition, fitness, and self-love. Now, through SHIFT, she hopes to provide others with the same. By gathering all that's needed, including top minds in health and wellness, SHIFT provides a 360-degree immersion program to facilitate lasting transformation. Attendees will experience inspiration, education and some pretty deep challenges as they work through the seven days of the retreat.

Their first retreat in Maui, the SHIFT Mind Body Soul team makes it their goal to create space for old beliefs to be released and new beliefs that better support us to emerge, enhancing physical, emotional, mindful and spiritual well-being.

Each guest’s SHIFT Mind Body Soul experience will be intentionally designed to nurture and support their own personal wellness journey. Individual practice as well as group experiences are woven into the week to help each guest create subtle shifts in thinking, belief and intention.

Nutrition - Elissa Goodman | Elissa Goodman is a holistic nutritionist and lifestyle cleanse expert who believes that proper nourishment, healing by listening to your gut, and a daily renewal practice are essential for optimal living. Elissa will be creating custom curated wellness menus in  collaboration with the Four Seasons Executive chef Craig Dryhurst. Elissa’s mission is to educate and encourage healthy, mindful living, helping others embrace the concept that we are a product of what we eat and how we treat ourselves. Mindfulness - Erin Lotz | Erin Lotz is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and co-founder of Westside DBT Treatment Center here in LA where she serves as clinical director and as a trusted psychotherapist. Erin has extensive experience working with adults using Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Erin will be leading a workshop that guides individuals through various awareness experiences that increase attention, calm the body, and explore emotions. The benefits are many, including better focus, self-awareness, self-acceptance, stress resilience, creativity, meaning and happiness, resulting in healing and confidence.

Movement - Lauren Roxburgh | Lauren Roxburgh is an internationally renowned educator, author and speaker, frequently dubbed “The Body Whisperer." Lauren is our go-to pro for all things fascia and alignment. Her knowledge of the mechanics behind the mind-body connection is unparalleled. During SHIFT, attendees will experience Lauren's version of movement medicine and the kind of education that has made her a go-to pro for many of Hollywood's A-List stars along with some of the greatest athletes and orthopedic surgeons on the planet. Spiritual Healing - Peter Crone | Peter is an internationally recognized mind-body wellness coach, spiritual teacher, and life transformation expert. His impressive roster of celebrity clients rely on him for a holistic approach to mind, body, and spirit with the goal of “spiritual freedom, mental peace, and physical vitality”. When working with the body he is unrivaled, basing his training on an incredible foundation of knowledge in Ayurveda, human biology, exercise physiology, biomechanics, and anatomy. SHIFT attendees are bound to learn quite a bit from Peter and the tools he uses to help free clients from limiting beliefs.

During the retreat, SHIFT's retreat attendees will be immersed in an active, but soothing schedule of mind body activities like the workshops with Elissa, Lauren, Erin and Peter, plus be treated to daily fitness group activities like yoga, stand-up paddleboard, tai chi and beach walks.

Holistic wellness activities during the seven days also include energy healing and reiki sessions, daily guided meditation, thought provoking & inspirational discussions, meeting with local healers, intention setting sessions, a drum circle on the beach and sound baths. A full day off-site excursion will include an excursion to the summit and heart chakra that is known to be the Haleakala crater, a transformational hike through the bamboo forest, a unique culinary adventure and end with a visit to a mindful escape in upcountry to experience walking meditation through a labyrinth and partake in an educational discussion on chakras and energy.

Everything wraps up with a Polynesian evening and a closing ceremony to culminate your program experience.
