5 Stunning Farm Dinners That Are Winning At Summer

Hang a string of lights, unplug and eat outside tonight. Congratulations -- you've won summer. We've been lucky to attend a few summery farm dinners in our day (check out this one from last week), but a few is never enough. There's something really special about eating on the land your food came from.

Dining outside with friends and freshly picked ingredients is nothing short of magic. Peek through our favorite farm dinners below, drool over pics, scoop up some recipes and gather inspo for all your summer entertaining...

Loveshackfancy's Farm Dinner | LoveShackFancy founder Rebecca Hessel Cohen hosted the gathering at her home just along her orchard’s edge. From the wildflower arrangements to the mismatched outdoor furnishings, everything paired perfectly with the boho-chic attire. Guests enjoyed dishes of marinated heirloom tomatoes, cider-poached peaches and other local wonders, along with a ten-herb salad from Bhumi Farms -- get the recipe inside.READ MORE
Rooftop Farm in NYC | Brooklyn Grange is bringing sustainable, urban agriculture to new heights – literally – by cultivating a fully functional rural heaven right above NYC’s concrete jungle. Their incredible rooftop farms grow dozens of different crops in otherwise dead space, giving the community below easy access to nutrient-rich, local produce and some much needed farm-fresh air. They also offer educational workshops on everything from beekeeping to composting, and consultation services to help people get into growing their own food. Come night, these beautiful farm spaces transform into magical event settings for dinner parties and even yoga classes where like-minded locals can connect.READ MORE
workshop dinner at floret | What happens when you fill a cathedral-sized barn on a sprawling flower farm with buckets of blooms in every shade on Earth and invite thirty women in to learn and celebrate? This, apparently. Flower goddess Erin Benzakein and the team at Floret Flowers (which includes her whole family!) has blown our minds with their floral arranging workshops this year. The secret to their success is no mystery. Leaf through these images of a recent August floral workshop and see for yourself. We’d advise you to sign up for a Floret workshop yourself – and indeed planned on including that invitation in this story – however, just last week the farm announced their 2016 class offerings and sold out immediately for the full year. READ MORE
Flora Farms in Mexico | Tucked into the mountains of San Jose del Cabo — just a two hour flight from LA — is Flora Farms: home to 25 acres of organic fruits and veggies, a farm-to-table restaurant that uses them, and a luxe private cottage community equipped with a spa, yoga studio and exclusive “harvesting privileges” for the residents. It’s not an easy spot to get to, but thats part of the charm. One minute you’re winding through a maze of cacti and dust, and the next you’re pulling up to a lush green paradise where an heirloom carrot margarita awaits. READ MORE
Full Moon Suppers at Salt Water Farm | Whole food cooking doesn’t stop at the stem. This baby beet salad uses both the sweet bulb and the nutrient-dense leaves for a summery salad we couldn’t wait to share. The recipe comes from Full Moon Suppers, an utterly charming new cookbook by the founder of Salt Water Farm Cooking School, Annemarie Ahearn. Growing up on a farm on the coast of Maine — where food was central to family gatherings — taught this chef all about making the most of the seasons; not just by using what is growing at the moment, but finding delicious, creative ways to waste as little of it as possible.  READ MORE
