5 Natural Supplements For PCOS + Hormonal Health

A Major Hormonal imbalance like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) can demolish our sense of balance, which is why managing the condition can feel overwhelming, to say the least. A PCOS diagnosis can be confusing and it is often hard to know where to start.

Women's health expert, Nicole Granato, overcame her own diagnosis using natural methods and now helps her clients do the same. Here are a few key supplements for PCOS that help to manage symptoms and encourage the body to heal...

PCOS brings up many questions for my clients trying to find clarity, especially about what they should do and what they need to avoid — and with access to so much information it can be hard to know. I believe that when you focus on eating whole foods, nourishing fats and oils, and mostly plants you can’t really go wrong. However, my favorite supplements and herbs focus on reproductive organs, cervical lining and hormone balance.

Healing the body can take some time — there is no quick and easy fix. Healing requires consistency and patience with yourself, and a little understanding and acceptance when you slip up. Too often I find women coming to me angry at themselves because they went a little off the path and feel like all is lost.

The reality is no one is perfect, we all have our days where we eat differently than we like or just don’t feel like working out. The healthiest thing we can do is be okay with it and take care of ourselves. This is why I love these supplements and herbs — they are simple and easy to add to your health. We all have thirty seconds to take our vitamins and ten minutes at the end of the day to make tea — this is self-care at its best.

5 Natural Herbs + Supplements For PCOS

Evening Primrose Oil | Known to help build cervical mucus, decrease menstrual pain, endometriosis pain and contains fatty acids. Healthy fats are critical in healing the body and promoting hormone balance, as well as keeping skin glowing. I recommend taking before 1pm. CHECK OUT

Zinc | I love zinc because it is a major immune supporter, fertility booster and wound healer. It also helps keep skin from flaking. I recommend taking before 1pm. CHECK OUT

Vitamin C | This is a crucial vitamin to incorporate into your diet. Vitamin C is the queen for repairing body tissue (very important for those suffering from endometriosis and PCOS). It is critical for the absorption of iron and the formation of collagen (incredible for skin and bone health). My absolute favorite is Lypo-Spheric from LivOn Labs. I usually take this anytime between early morning until the end of the day. CHECK OUT

Raspberry Leaf Tea | I am a big fan of drinking a nourishing herb in the evening. I love raspberry leaf tea because of its incredible antioxidant properties. Think about it like this: Your body is resting and repairing, and while it is doing that is has been given amazing antioxidants and healing properties to assist in the process. So, in return, it will lead to an even greater healing. Raspberry leaf is also known to strengthen the uterine wall, increasing uterine health. I love drinking my tea at the end of the day. CHECK OUT

CBD | I recommend CBD to my clients who have a hard time sleeping and or staying asleep. Rest is just as important as every single supplement you can put into your body. Getting a good night's sleep will change the way your body heals, reacts to stress and fights off harmful viruses. Try taking either a capsule of CBD or a dropperful twenty minutes before bed. However, if your body is not familiar with it, I would start with a lower dosage and work your way up. This is my favorite CBD brand.
