Yogi, mama and wellness entrepreneur Sophie Jaffe has graced the digital pages of The Chalkboard Mag for years. We’re legitimately obsessed with this yogi’s line of superfood coconut butters and protein blends and are 100% on board with her balanced, but passionate approach to wellness.
We spent a cozy morning inside the OG wellness babe's brand new home loaded with all the wellness things we love. We asked Sophie to join our At Home With series and share a sweet little smoothie that uses our new favorite oat milk from Pressed Juciery...
Daily breakfast: I follow intuitive eating, so my meals vary day-to-day, but I know what works best for my body and my needs. Some mornings I eat a big smoothie bowl loaded with Philosophie superfood, frozen fruits and tons of veggies, while other days I’ll have a big stack of gluten-free waffles. As it approaches cold and flu season I love a nourishing bowl of oats with fruits, granola, nuts and Berry Bliss Superfood + Protein Blend to help support immunity and fight off any sickness coming my way.
Dream breakfast: A superfood loaded pancake stack, piled high and covered in grass-fed butter and maple syrup. A side of crunchy hash browns and a beautiful smoked salmon omelet! Enjoyed in bed with a huge mug of coffee or a latte with and my kiddos and hubby, all sharing bites!
How do you take your coffee? My go-to—and has been for years and years—is a superfood coffee made with either a cup of high-quality coffee (I love cold-brew or brewed Chameleon), cashew mylk, Philosophie Cacao Magic Superfood + Protein Blend, Coconut Magic Coconut Butter or almond butter, collagen, Four Sigmatic Lion’s Mane and any other adaptogens or superfood I feel I need to kick-start my day.
Daily supplements: LoveBug Probiotics to support strong gut health, Liquid Sunshine Chlorophyll Drops and liquid iron.
Kitchen tool obsession: Between the coffee and matcha lattes I make throughout the day and the smoothies I make for me, my kiddos and guests I could not survive without my blender.
Favorite daily workout: Workouts lately have looked like long walks around our neighborhood and swimming in our saltwater pool. I always love a good hot yoga flow at my favorite studio (hot8) when I carve out the space for this time.
Strange wellness habit: I wouldn’t say anything is strange but probably not for everyone. Recently I was sick and gargling some gnarly tasting oil of oregano drops and eating raw garlic cloves to keep sickness away.
3 staples always in my pantry: Some kind of nut butter, gluten-free pasta and superfood powders.
Food philosophy in one sentence: I eat from a place of love—love for myself and my body, for how food tastes and the way it makes me feel.
Favorite home scent: I love the smell and feel of lighting Palo Santo, it immediately allows me to drop in no matter where I’m at or what’s going on. Some of my favorite flowers and plants are sunflowers, eucalyptus and herbs like rosemary.
Making time to read this book: The Book of Awakening by Mark Nepo. I quote it all the time, it’s basically my bible.
Favorite thing to cook for friends: I love making something that allows for my friends or family to get in on the fun—whether it’s smoothie bowls where they can mix and match their favorite toppings or having a pizza party. I love these kinds of meals because my kids can get in on the action.
My “crunchiest” habit: Crunchiest habit is probably going to get a V steam and/or yoni steam.
Room I hang out in most at home: The kitchen is where I fuel my inspiration and create all the nourishing and high-vibe meals to feed my family, but I love being in our backyard whether it’s playing games with my kiddos, swimming in the pool, meditating or doing a quick yoga flow. I’m blessed to live in a place that is sunny most of the year and I take full advantage of it.
Lately I'm Always wearing: Madewell for when I’m going out to a dinner or an event here in LA, Electric and Rose or Spiritual Gangster, and Onzie for activewear!
At least once a week I cook: A yummy batch of roasted veggies like potatoes, cauliflower and zucchini with Green Dream Savory Blend sprinkled all over it. This seasoning is made with nutritional yeast, sea salt and the Philosophie Green Dream Superfood + Protein Blend making it perfect for batch cooking.
My Best health advice: I want people to love, appreciate and respect themselves. A huge part of that is being kind to our bodies, and that means eating beautiful, nourishing foods, actively moving and engaging in something that we love, and hushing that negative, self-deprecating voice in our heads while turning up the volume on the one that is telling us that we are amazing, we are talented and that we can do it.
Wine or cocktails? Wine during Shabbat Friday dinners with my loved ones or a Kombucha cocktail by the pool.
healthy recipe you love to make at home: The Pumpkin Oat Milk Smoothie (see recipe below!). This smoothie is the best of fall in one energizing and grounding smoothie bowl. I use all my favorites including Pressed Juicery’s newest Oat Milk which is amazing! I also use Philosophie’s limited-time Fall Vibes Pumpkin Pie Superfood Blend for all the pumpkin spice goodness.
