There is a growing swell of conversation around mental health. And, as proponents of wellness, we couldn't be happier about it. For too long the stigma surrounding mental health issues have kept most of us from a richer dialogue on a topic that effects us all -- but more understanding, tools, and education are profoundly needed. Last week, we attended a dinner with Vanity Fair in celebration of Saks Fifth Avenue's collaboration with mindfulness app, Happy Not Perfect. The intimate dinner, hosted at the Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood, celebrated the launch of Happy Not Perfect's mental wellness installation at Saks Beverly Hills. The evening was co-hosted by Happy Not Perfect founder Poppy Jamie, VP & General Manager of Saks Beverly Hills Robert Arnold-Kraft, and Senior West Coast Editor of Vanity Fair, Britt Hennemuth. During the gathering, guests including Julianne Hough, Suki Waterhouse and Adam Scott enjoyed Chalkboard-approved self-care tools, reiki and crystal readings. Also in attendance, a few of our favorite mental health advocates including positive psychologist, Dr. Deepika Chopra and resiliance advocate, Dr. Zelana Montminy. The combination of wellness supportive protocols and ultra-glamorous Sunset Tower details were all we needed to find our home on an otherwise chaotic West Hollywood evening. The celebratory dinner stoked productive conversation on the importance of mental health awareness, ending stigma surrounding mental illness, and the need for more education and access to tools like the Happy Not Perfect app. Poppy Jamie's Happy Not Perfect installation at Saks Fifth Avenue is the first of its kind, bringing to life the eight steps of the Happy Not Perfect Happiness Challenge, a series of science- backed mental exercises including positive psychology, neuroscience and meditation. Visitors will have the opportunity to take a break from the stress of everyday life to breathe, literally shed their worries, focus on gratitude, and meditate. The installation is open and free to the public at Saks Beverly Hills now through Sunday, November 10, during store hours.
