How To Apply Lip-To-Cheek Stain According To A Makeup Artist

There's something so chic about lip-to-cheek multisticks -- they're beautiful, creamy and easy to pack along. But do you actually know how to use them well? We love the appeal of multi-purpose makeup like lip-to-cheek stain, but truth be told we've never been absolutely certain about how to use them.

Green celebrity makeup artist, Katey Denno, is the queen of using washes of color on the face the right way. (Here's proof.) Katey recommends having two to four lip-to-cheek colors in your beauty stash and, in the video above, she's showing us how to use them for a variety of looks.

Vapour Beauty's Aura Multi-Use Sticks are truly addictive. Once you get the hang of how to build the color and where to place it, these sticks can be used on lips, cheeks and even the eyes as a sheer wash of color or built up to provide an intense pop of pigment. We love that their emollient formula is all-natural, wonderfully hydrating, and happens to look so pretty on a wide array of skin tones.

For a perfect pout, Katey suggests starting with a layer of lip moisturizer. Kiss the back of your hand before applying a flawless, smooth layer of color.

For the face, simply dab some color to the apples of your cheeks -- as Katey shows in the video above, there's no exact way to apply cheek color, but each face seems to have it's own sweetspot. Just make sure the color doesn't blend into your nose, instead keep the color one to two fingers away from the nose.

Look for your favorite color here and find a few of Katey's below...
