A weekend in Palm Springs is a classic getaway for Angelenos. This time of year, the tiny desert town is flooded with Coachella-ready festival goers, but even when Beyonce isn't blasting across the desert live, we love a quick trip to this sunny paradise.
We've teamed up with the iconic, design-first hotel The Parker Palm Springs to give one lucky reader a blissful weekend in Palm Springs. What's the occasion? Luxury sleepwear brand, Sant & Abel recently designed a few custom-printed sets just for the hotel and having brunched in this set out on the Parker's art-strewn lawn ourselves, we can say with confidence this is a collab you need to experience.
Sant & Abel's Sophie Lovejoy is guiding through her ultimate weekend in Palm Springs. Cruise through and make some notes, then scroll down for a chance to win!
The Ultimate Weekend in Palm Springs
Where To Stay: Whenever I visit Palm Springs, there’s no other place I’ll stay than at the Parker. Positioned on 13 acres, there is so much to do within the compound that it’s impossible to leave. When my dog is with me (most trips), I love to take her to the back of the property for a run around the most expansive, perfectly manicured lawn. You enter through these oversized gorgeous wooden doors. It’s like a scene out of Alice in Wonderland.
What To Do in The Morning: If it’s not too hot (all depends on the time of the year), then I’ll wake up early and start the day with a 90-minute hike along the Andreas Canyon Trail. A stop at Cheeky’s for breakfast on the way home is always the best! Then I’ll return to the Parker to sweat it out in the steam room and Jacuzzi at the PSYC Spa (Palm Springs Yacht Club). If I’m feeling lazy, I’ll sleep in and meander down to Norma’s for breakfast, the hotel's vibrant, buzzing restaurant open all day and tuck into the artichoke eggs Benedict with the smoothie of the day on the side. Following a leisurely late breakfast, I’ll lie in one of the hammocks staring up at the endless palm trees or spend an hour or two by the Silicon Valley pool – perfect for the morning sun.
What To Do In The Afternoon: In the early afternoon, I’ll venture out of the compound to soak up some Palm Springs atmosphere and get in some retail therapy. One of my favorite Palm Springs boutiques is Elizabeth & Prince. The boutique has three locations, so no matter where you are in Palm Springs, you are destined to be close to one of their amazing locations. Once I’m styled, I always make a stop at The Shops at 1345, they are filled with amazing home goods, giftable items and some up-and-coming emerging designers and artists.
What To Do In The Evening: Then I return to the Parker in good time for cocktail hour at the pool by the Lemonade Stand. Normally a refreshing signature muddled lemon cocktail and a side of guac is the order of the day as I relax listening to the great tunes played by the pool. As the sun starts to go down, I get ready for the night ahead. I have a couple of favorite options, all depending on the day of the week. If it’s any day from Sunday to Wednesday, then I’ll head into town and have a few drinks at Birba (and maybe a small bite), and then hop across the street to have dinner at Workshop, located in Palm Springs' Design District. The restaurant is beautifully designed, always buzzing and has a menu entirely based on seasonal produce harvested from local farms. The day rounds out with a nightcap in the Lobby’s Mini Bar or sitting around the fire pit in the gardens, before retreating to my luxurious room.
Where to Wine: If my trip coincides on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday, then I’ll stay in the Parker compound and have dinner at Counter Reformation – the only nights it’s open. A secret pathway leads to a stylish and intimate wine bar with a capacity of 20. The entire menu comprises of a selection of small, delectable plates such as foie gras macarons, black pepper beef carpaccio and avocado-haloumi-Iberico tartine. All of the wines are the same price with options to buy half a glass, a full glass or a bottle. Essentially you can try several dishes and several wines without completely over indulging.
Where To Stop On The Way Out: Heading back to LA, I always give myself sufficient time to conclude my trip with a stop at the Desert Springs Outlets – the best in California. You could easily spend all day there, but once you know the lay of the land, it’s easy to call into a few of the favorite stores: Rag & Bone, Helmut Lang, Theory, Tory Burch, Sandro, Majé and Ralph Lauren, to name a few! No trip to Palm Springs would be complete without a visit to the gorgeous Trina Turk store to pick up a few of her iconic prints and colors. I swing by there to check out her latest and greatest. Of course, on my way out, I must grab a date shake from Hadley’s; it sure makes the drive back to LA a bit more sweet!
