Be Good To You: How Kindness To Self Can Help You Heal

Getting a health diagnosis of almost any kind can be a totally overwhelming experience. What to do next?  Who to see first?  And how the heck are we supposed to keep everything else balanced during the healing process?

Women's health expert, Nicole Granato, has helped many women in healing PCOS naturally. According to Nicole, learning to be kind to yourself and gentle with your body is a crucial step along the healing journey...

Working with women who are suffering from PCOS and hormonal imbalances, I have noticed a pattern of confusion on how to take care of yourself properly. Questions come up often from women asking what they should do for their skin, weight, hair and overall emotional well -being while they're healing. As someone who has personal experience in this area I have spent a lot of time testing and weaning out the good and the bad and found that the answers are quite simple. Here are three top suggestions to taking care of yourself while healing PCOS or any other health hurdle...

Weight Management| Weight gain is a part of PCOS a lot of women struggle with. One of my biggest suggestions is to eat a balanced diet filled with real food. This essentially means eat food from the earth and eliminate processed foods as much as possible. Whole grains, greens, protein, healthy fats and fruits (in the morning). Switching your eating habits frequently will bring a lot of confusion to your body and give you a negative effect oppose to a positive change.

Skincare | I find that when we overload our skin with changes of product and overwhelm it with too much product we tend to irritate our skin. I suggest finding a really gentle face cleanser and a face oil with pure and organic oils to moisturize. Using a face mask once a week oppose to two to three times is very important. If you are experiencing breakouts you can try wearing your hair up at night and ensure your pillows are clean. Another tip is to use an all natural detergent when cleaning your sheets. A lot of people are irritated to the chemicals in a lot of non natural soaps.

Emotional Ease | For women struggling with PCOS our emotions can feel a little more on high alert. We tend to do things in the moment to help ease the anxiety, depression or stress. I find that finding something you can do daily to manage these moments is key. Supporting your body on a daily basis to promote a sense of ease and wellbeing is everything! I personally use ashwagandha tincture in my water daily. I keep a bottle of it in my bag so if i feel a stressful moment coming on i have it to help me relax.

There are many ways we can take care of ourselves and everybody has a different way of doing so. I truly believe balance is key to everything in this life and being kind and gentle on yourself is one of the most important things we can do!
