3 Healing Herbal Tonics to Replace Your Morning Latte

This fall we're living for every cozy, nourishing beverage we can get our hands on -- and are extra thrilled by those that don't involve a certain spiced squash (you know who you are). If you're feeling the same, grab your cutest ceramic mug and whip up one of these healing herbal tonics from founder and creative director of Urban Moonshine, Jovial King.

Urban Moonshine is a modern herbal apothecary we instantly started crushing on after we first tried their small-batch bitters a few years back. Learn all about the healing power of these blends in our interview with Jovial, who is sharing three of her favorite ways to use them below.

Swap in one of these energizing, immunity-boosting adaptogenic bevs to replace whatever you usually sip on to start the day. Check back later in the week as we share a set of evening-specific recipes from Urban Moonshine... [olists num=1][olists num=2][olists num=3]

LA Bite Of The Month: Algae Smoothies + Fish Tacos At Great White Venice

If you build a stylish cafe that serves avocado toast in Venice, they will come.

It might surprise you to hear that the Venice neighborhood of Los Angeles could use a new cafe, but it's true. Great White opened it's doors just last month and - with it's broken-in style and healthy-ish menu - it feels like a natural part of the food scene here already. Here's why we're loving the fresh new space and it's modern menu...

What We Ate: Just a stone's throw from the beach and Venice's most iconic intersection, Great White is situated next to a local surf shop with seating that pours out onto the sidewalk. We sat inside the comfy, white-washed space recently and enjoyed a green protein smoothie, their spicy avocado toast (ordered with the gluten-free bread option), and a gorgeous blue-green smoothie bowl made with E3Live.

Why We Ate It: Great White's menu is doubled in size by their beverage offerings. They offer everything one could ever want to drink including smoothies, flat whites (the owners are Aussies), and kombucha on tap. The casual indoor-outdoor atmosphere and gorgeous styling provides us with everything we're looking for on a Venice afternoon: style, snacks and a sense of community belonging.

Why You Need It: Great White's location on Windward and Pacific just off the beach makes it the perfect meeting spot for fitnessy friend dates: meet up for a coffee and a walk or a smoothie and a beach run.

In The October Shop: 21 Hot Drinks, Good Books + Fall Staples We’re Loving Now

Let's get cozy. And let's start in the kitchen.

For us, there's no quicker path to self-care than a deep breath and a hot bev. We're lining them up this fall - from chai teas and green milks, to superfood lattes and bitters tonics - and invite you to do the same.

We've filled the October Shop with tonics, teas and everything else you need for drinkable wellness this season. This farmhouse-style ceramic mug will help you bring it all together - whether at home or as a way to cozify your studio, office or other home away from home.

Check out the golden milk we've included - think of it as the new chai tea latte: anti-inflammatory, warming and exotic.

Maple bitters is made for autumn and makes a healthy (yes, bittersweet) addition for tonics, cocktails and drinks of all kinds. We've also included reishi (a jack of all trades when it comes to coffees, smoothies and all our other go-to's), our favorite ginger shot, and a milk frother we don't know how we ever lived without. Find a warm drink that suits you and your body's needs and get to sipping your way from fall to winter - immunity and sense of well-being fully intact.

On the fashion front, we've included a few cozy, fall classics of the wearable sort. A trench feels too obvious in September, but come the heart of the season, we're longing for this classic piece of outerwear, a giant turtleneck like this one from Cuyana and a timeless shoe - for fall, this chunky burnt red heel by Everlane feels just right.

Grab a drink, suit up in fall's coziest, then pair your look with a few of the books, candles and other cozy treasures we've filled the shop with this season!

Tell us below: What's the best purchase you've ever made from The Shop? Share and learn from other readers below!

Bud Vases + Black Glaze: In The Studio with Sheldon Ceramics

Inspired by the couple's rustic Vermont heritage, Peter Sheldon and his fiancée, Ellen Woglom, have created a line of handmade ceramics that are, in a word, perfect.

For the East LA-based duo behind Sheldon Ceramics, capturing a quality of timelessness is key. They strive to create ceramic cups, bowls, plates and pots that honor craft, functionality and a modern design aesthetic in equal measure. The result is a collection of ceramic goods that feel modern now - and will keep well long into the future.

We asked Peter and Ellen to partake in our artsiest interview series. Like their work, their answers are simple, inspired and inspiring. Check it out... [olists num=1]
