But she’s not just podcast royalty; Krista is a champion of intentional living and practical tools that elevate everyday wellness.
Now, she’s adding another essential to her lineup: LMNT. Yep, Krista’s all about balance—especially when it comes to keeping those electrolytes in check. Whether she’s podcasting, hitting the gym, or juggling the demands of her ever-evolving wellness journey, LMNT is becoming a key player in her hydration game. Let’s dive into what Krista’s loving about this hydration powerhouse and how it’s fueling her busy, vibrant lifestyle.
I Always Have 2-3 Drinks With Me, And Yet I Was Still Chronically Dehydrated (And You Could Be Too)
I’ve always been the girl with at least three or four drinks in hand at all times. Whether it’s water, tea, an adaptogenic latte (you catch my drift!) – hydration was just never something I thought I needed to worry about. But a few months ago, I decided to get my labs done—and I was shocked to find out that I was extremely dehydrated.
Coincidentally, a few days later, Lindsey and I interviewed the ever-so-wise Chervin Jafarieh, who taught us that as a nation, we are chronically dehydrated, which is leading to widespread metabolic syndrome, insulin problems, bloating, constipation, etc. He explained that the first step to battling any health condition is to properly hydrate and mineralize.
It turns out that even though I was constantly drinking, I wasn’t getting the minerals my body needed to truly absorb that water and stay hydrated at a cellular level. And, like so many of us, I didn’t even realize I was dehydrated because I felt like I was doing everything right. Well, all I have to say now is thank goodness for LMNT electrolytes. Here’s everything I’ve learned about the power of LMNT and how they’ve literally healed my dehydration!
What are electrolytes + why is everyone obsessed?!
You’ve probably seen them for sale at the front desk of your hot yoga studio or at your local health food store, but what actually are electrolytes? I didn’t know until I started reading about LMNT and found some information on their website that blew my mind. According to LMNT’s blog, electrolytes are charged minerals that conduct electricity between our cells and balance fluids, which is how they keep our cells hydrated!
I had no idea that we needed a certain level of sodium, potassium, and magnesium to enjoy high energy levels, improved exercise performance, better heart health, and even a more stabilized mood! I was also THRILLED to hear that electrolytes can keep my hormone levels balanced, which is something I obviously obsess about on the daily. Doesn’t everyone?
So, 4-6 grams of sodium, 3.5-5 grams of potassium, and 400-600 mg of magnesium is the sweet spot that we should all be hitting to ensure optimal hydration and proper metabolic function. And while I would love to get DIY with this, I simply do not have the time to be whipping up homemade electrolyte recipes at home. Luckily, LMNT contains the perfect ratio of sodium, potassium, and magnesium with ZERO sugar (yay!)... and I can no longer live another day without it.
How I’ve used LMNT to rehydrate myself + the science behind it
Like I said, I drink LMNT every day now, and I think that is partly because I understand the science behind why my body needs it. Here is how I use LMNT in my daily life to support my body and why this is important from a science perspective!
I am a workout class girlie, and I usually do at least one hot class a week, whether that’s hot yoga, hot pilates, or just a nice sauna stretch sesh. But even for classes where I’m not sweating profusely, I’m still supplementing with LMNT, no matter what. I usually throw a packet in my water bottle (grapefruit and watermelon flavors are my fave!!) and start drinking it BEFORE I work out and then during the class, too. Actually Lauren Papanos, who we had on the podcast not too long ago, told us that drinking electrolytes before and during hard workouts keeps your cortisol from spiking too high. Plus, when you sweat, you lose a ton of water and sodium which can seriously impair your exercise performance, so I feel really good knowing that I’m actively replenishing my muscles with LMNT as I move!
I also travel A TON, and flying always leaves me with a dry mouth and a feeling of sluggishness that I am now realizing was probably because I was dehydrated. I just flew to Paris last week, and I brought my trusty grapefruit LMNTs with me – let me just say, what a difference! I chugged a packet before and throughout the flight, and I felt so energized by the time we landed. LMNT’s blog talks about the ways in which electrolytes affect our feelings of energy by helping convert stored energy (aka the food we eat) into cellular energy (ATP). Another fun fact is that sodium and potassium are known to conduct electrical charges in the body, leading to better communication between nerve cells, which contributes to improved nervous system and brain function – so that’s why I was feeling so sharp!
There’s no turning back now – hydrate like a pro!
Now, with LMNT, I know I’m getting the hydration my body needs. It’s packed with the right ratio of electrolytes, zero sugar, and is free from any weird additives— it’s just pure, clean hydration. Whether I’m flying across the world or just showing up for my daily workouts, I make sure I’m always carrying a packet (or two!) in my bag. LMNT honestly has me feeling and looking better than ever (did I mention being properly hydrated makes your skin GLOW?!), plus it’s the easiest routine to add into your life right now!
