10 Times Emma Watson Said Exactly What We Were Thinking

Emma Watson isn't afraid to speak her mind, and we're all ears lately. Many the starlet picks a cause and speaks her mind, but rarely as well as this British mega-babe, the object of crushes world-wide and also known as Hermione Granger.  Emma almost broke the internet a few years back with her speech as UN Women Goodwill Ambassador promoting the kind of down-to-earth, male-inclusive girl power we'd love to see more of. Her grounded points of view on feminism, culture and body image prove that having influential leadership is not just about what you're talking about, but how you're talking about it...

"Feminism is not here to dictate to you. It’s not prescriptive, it’s not dogmatic. All we are here to do is give you a choice. If you want to run for Prime Minister, you can. If you don’t, that’s wonderful, too. Shave your armpits, don’t shave them, wear flats one day, heels the next."

"I truly, truly believe that beauty is something that comes from within. You can only really look beautiful if you feel beautiful on the inside. It shows through your face, the way you move and the way you hold yourself."

"With airbrushing and digital manipulation, fashion can project an unobtainable image that’s dangerously unhealthy. I’m excited about the aging process. I’m more interested in women who aren’t perfect. They’re more compelling."

"Don’t feel stupid if you don’t like what everyone else pretends to love."

"There’s nothing wrong with being afraid. It’s not the absence of fear, it’s overcoming it. Sometimes you’ve got to blast through and have faith."

"Becoming yourself is really hard and confusing, and it’s a process. I was completely the eager beaver in school, I was the girl in the front of the class who was the first person to put her hand up, and it’s often not cool to be the person that puts themself out there, and I’ve often gotten teased mercilessly, but I found that ultimately if you truly pour your heart into what you believe in—even if it makes you vulnerable—amazing things can and will happen."

"I want to be a Renaissance woman. I want to paint, and I want to write, and I want to act, and I want to just do everything."

"I don’t have perfect teeth, I’m not stick thin. I want to be the person who feels great in her body and can say that she loves it and doesn’t want to change anything."

"[My mum] instilled in me, particularly in my teenage years, that what I was thinking and what I was doing and what I was saying were, ultimately, infinitely more important than my physical appearance. Even when the world was really telling me the contrary."

"Don’t let anyone tell you what you can and can’t do or achieve. Do what you want to do and be who you want to be. Just encourage and include each other, don’t ostracize the gender in front of you."

A Day In The Life of A Crystal Healer

It's dawn; do you know where your hawk feather is? Most of us spend the foggy first moments of our day stumbling towards a coffee mug, but for Heather Askinosie of Energy Muse, an early morning ancient purification ritual is as normal as can be.

The daily life of a professional crystal healer is - as you might expect - miles from ordinary, but wellness and weirdness often go hand in hand and we're all about owning your quirks (check out Heather's tips for that here).

Read on for a (hilarious!) glimpse inside a "normal" day in Heather's world. You may emerge with some surprising inspo...

My son Orion came up behind me looking over my shoulder and asked me what I was doing.

“I am writing about a typical day in my life.”

“But you don't have typical days,” he said. “Your days aren't normal like other people.”

“What do you mean by that?”

“Here's an example... remember at school when we were studying the history of Indians?”

I nodded yes, “I remember”

“Well, I come home one day after school and there one is. A real Chumash Indian in my living room with a huge whalebone lying on the floor. She is boiling herbs in the kitchen, drinking coffee and talking about her tribe. You made me show her my homework, and it just so happens that it was the day we studied Chumash Indians!! She tells me that all the information that I am being taught in school is wrong and not true. The reason she knows this is because her great, great, great grandfather was in the tribe they were talking about in my history book. I can guarantee you that nobody else in my school came home and had that happen to them.”

"I agree that was a coincidence."

“A coincidence? That's a typical day for you,” he said.

Maybe he is right. A typical day for me is not typical...

Springbone Kitchen: 7 Bone Broth Benefits + NYC’s Latest Hotspot

The ancient power of bone broth can be felt upon first sip. We were pleasantly surprised to see this traditional food go mainstream a few years back (catch up on our obsession here, here and here) and it's not going away any time soon.

With Pressed Juicery's new green juice-loaded locations popping up across New York, and Springbone Kitchen opening in the city this week too, we expect to see more and more wellness warriors double-fisting their way to the subway - green juice in one hand, broth in the other. Springbone specializes in artisan, grass-fed bone broths made with ingredients sourced from upstate New York farms. They offer beef broth bloody marys and even zucchini pasta with grass-feed meatballs and a tomato broth sauce. Other must-tries on their drink menu? Reishi and wild mushroom tonics.

If you're new to the bone broth phenomenon or just need fresh motivation, here's a brief crash course on why you should be drinking this soothing, healing, invigorating stuff often...

6 Healthy Tips For The Ultimate Beach Day

Buns in sand, drink in hand. We're all about those divine days at the beach, but keep that beach day from being depleting with these health and wellness tips from L.A.-based lifestyle blogger, Lauren Gores Ireland of You & Lu. Start with a little meditation, drift into a good book and swap out those chips for something hydrating...

Summertime sun. Salty hair. Crashing waves. Beach days bring happiness to our souls; restfulness to our minds. In the moment, nothing feels better than sinking your toes in the sand while staring at the ocean.

Oftentimes, my beach days are spent with friends. We admittedly eat too much (and drink too much) and read magazines all day. But I've realized the importance of squeezing in what I call 'healthy beach time.' Think pressed juices, meditation, a soulful book... the list goes on.

The quiet time will calm your mind while waking up your body. Here's how to keep your beach days healthy...
