Après-Ski, But Make It Beauty: Inside Agent Nateur’s Collagen Bar in Aspen

Aspen is no stranger to luxury, but this season, one brand took après ski glam to an entirely new level. Enter Agent Nateur’s Winter Collagen Bar, a stunning pop-up that blended wellness, beauty, and pure alpine chic at Aspen Mountain’s iconic Gondola Plaza. If there were ever a place to sip your way to glowing skin while wrapped in cashmere and surrounded by snow-capped peaks, this was it.

The Chicest Pop-Up in Aspen: Agent Nateur’s Winter Collagen Bar

Sipping in Style: The Collagen Bar Experience
We’ve been obsessed with Agent Nateur for years—their Holi Mane is a staple in our beauty cabinet, and the holi (sun) SPF 50 Dewy Tinted Skin Drops give us that effortless, just-back-from-Saint-Tropez glow. So naturally, when we heard they were setting up a fully branded hot drink kiosk, complete with complimentary, organic beverages, it instantly became the place to be.

Picture this: a cozy, perfectly curated lounge space designed for unwinding after a long day on the slopes. Guests sipped on warm, collagen-infused elixirs (because why settle for regular hot cocoa when you can have a beauty-boosting version?), all while taking in the stunning mountain backdrop.

A Gondola, but Make It Fashion
If the delicious sips weren’t enough to lure you in, the pièce de résistance was a freestanding branded gondola—yes, an actual gondola—transformed into a product discovery station where visitors could immerse themselves in Agent Nateur’s world of high-performance, clean beauty. It was the ultimate fusion of nature and luxury, proving once again that skincare should be an experience, not just a routine.

This activation came hot on the heels of Agent Nateur’s latest launch, the Après Ski Winter Recovery Kit, a curated edit of must-haves designed to revive winter-worn skin. Featuring ultra-nourishing and restorative products, the kit is a love letter to hydration, repair, and that coveted après-ski glow. Trust us, this is the secret weapon you need after a day spent braving the elements.

According to Jena Covello, Agent Nateur’s founder, the Collagen Bar was designed to reflect the brand’s commitment to luxurious, clean beauty and fostering meaningful connections with its community. The pop-up was an invitation to Aspen visitors to indulge in wellness-inspired drinks and immerse themselves in a beauty experience unlike any other.

Between the collagen-infused sips, the ultra-cozy vibes, and the effortlessly chic setting, this pop-up was peak winter glam. Fingers crossed they make this a yearly thing, because let’s be real—hot cocoa just won’t hit the same after this.

Living Well with Will Nitze, Founder/CEO of IQBAR: From Harvard Neuroscience to Brain-Boosting Snacks + the One Habit He Swears By to Avoid Burnout

What does it take to build a brain-boosting empire? As a Harvard neuroscience grad, Will Nitze knew brain fuel was essential. His journey began with a simple idea: what if we could fuel our brains the same way we fuel our bodies? Fast forward, and his brand, IQBAR, has become a go-to for anyone looking to snack smarter, hydrate better, and optimize mental performance.

But what really goes on behind the scenes of running a functional food brand? Between formulating new products, scaling a company, and keeping his own brain in peak shape, Will knows a thing or two about balancing health, business, and real life.

In this edition of Living Well, Will shares the biggest shift in his mindset as a founder, the wellness habits that keep him at his best, and what he’d tell his younger self before starting this wild ride.

Living Well with Will Nitze

You went from neuroscience at Harvard to launching a nutrition brand—what’s been the biggest shift in your mindset along the way? The real world is vastly messier than the theoretical world. Starting a “brain food” brand was unbelievably challenging in ways I never expected. There are pretty much never-ending fires to put out across all elements of the company - manufacturing, supply chain, legal, HR, etc. It’s a journey (but I wouldn’t have it any other way).

What’s one habit or ritual that has been a non-negotiable for your mental wellness or physical health? Exercise and sauna. If I’m not elevating my heart rate on a daily basis, “burnout” starts to creep in. Sweating provides a much-needed mental reset for me. It also helps me to segment and compartmentalize my day.

What’s a health trend you see people getting wrong? Cutting out caffeine. There’s so much data that coffee extends lifespan, and it certainly objectively improves quality of life and productivity for most people who consume it (myself included!).

As a CEO/founder of a growing brand, how do you maintain a balance between work and personal life? Honestly, I didn’t for the first ~5 years. You just have so much energy and bandwidth in your 20’s! But that isn’t sustainable, so as the company found its footing (both financially and otherwise), I made a concerted effort to hire great folks, delegate, and lean into a wellness routine outside of work.

Your bars focus on keto, plant-based, and brain-boosting nutrition—why these three pillars? For us, it’s all about brain health and functionality. For instance, our bars are low in sugar and net carbs not because it’s a trend, but because it reduces mental crashes. They’re plant-based because there’s good data suggesting a diet high in vegetables benefits the brain. And they center on nutrients like magnesium and lion’s mane because these have been shown to keep folks sharper between the ears!

What was the biggest challenge you faced in launching IQBAR, and how did you overcome it? Honestly, nailing the product was the hardest part. It took many, many iterations and as someone with no food science background, I was consistently humbled throughout the process. Formulating ultra-low-sugar products that taste great is also wildly challenging. But we got there.

IQBAR started with brain-boosting nutrition bars and has since expanded into hydration mixes (IQMIX) and instant coffee (IQJOE). What motivated you to diversify the product line? The goal has always been to build a brain and body nutrition platform. Whereas most bar brands would expand into other packaged food items, we wanted to instead solve other, distinct problems for our consumers throughout the day. IQBAR satiates, IQMIX hydrates, IQJOE caffeinates.

What’s been the hardest lesson you’ve had to learn as a CEO? Every problem is a people problem. If you hire, fire, and retain well, you solve all problems.

If I could give just one piece of health advice it would be Prioritize sleep! It’s the most effective performance-enhancing drug known to man. Beyond that…eat IQBARs.

If you could sit down with your younger self at the start of this journey, what would you tell him? I would tell him to radically shift his definition of success. Forget financial outcomes, accolades, and “status.” Focus entirely on building a great life for yourself - inclusive of your working life, at-home life, and health.

What’s the Deal with Kids’ Vaccines? A Pediatrician Answers 10 Commonly Asked Questions

Few parenting topics spark as much discussion—and, at times, confusion—as childhood vaccinations. With so much information (and misinformation) circulating, it can feel overwhelming to navigate what’s best for your child. At The Chalkboard Mag, we believe in informed, empowered decision-making, not taking sides. That’s why we turned to Dr. Joel "Gator" Warsh, an integrative pediatrician and trusted voice in holistic health, to help parents cut through the noise.

Dr. Gator has long been a go-to expert for our community, offering thoughtful, evidence-based guidance on raising healthy kids. Now, with his upcoming book, Between a Shot and a Hard Place, he’s diving deep into this very topic—helping parents understand the complexities of childhood vaccinations with clarity and compassion. Today, he’s tackling some of the most common (and often controversial) questions, bringing a balanced perspective that bridges the gap between mainstream medicine and holistic wellness. Whether you’re looking for the latest research, insights from real-world pediatric practice, or simply a better understanding of your options, this Q&A is here to support you in making the best choices for your family.

Dr. Gator Breaks Down 10 Commonly Asked Questions for Parents

In my practice as a pediatrician committed to holistic and integrative childcare, one of the most significant challenges I face is navigating the complexities surrounding the discussion of vaccinations. It's concerning that in today's climate, discussions about vaccines can often become contentious or even taboo. This reluctance to engage in open conversations about vaccinations only serves to increase hesitancy among parents, who naturally have questions and concerns about everything from vaccine ingredients to potential reactions. It's vital that we create an environment where these discussions are encouraged rather than avoided and this is what led me to write my book, Between a Shot and Hard Place. Only through transparent dialogue can we address misconceptions and provide the reassurance that parents need to make informed decisions about their children's health.

+ Why are vaccines given so early in life? Vaccines are scheduled early to protect children when they are most vulnerable to serious infections. Diseases like whooping cough or Hemophilus Influenza B can be devastating for infants, and early vaccination can prevent potentially life-threatening complications.

+ What are the risks of vaccinations? Like any medical intervention, vaccines can have side effects, but the vast majority are very mild (such as soreness at the injection site or a low-grade fever). Serious side effects are rare and must be weighed against the risks of the diseases these vaccines prevent.

+ What's in vaccines? Vaccines typically contain an agent that resembles a disease-causing microorganism, and ingredients to ensure the product remains unchanged and stable. These include preservatives and stabilizers, and sometimes adjuvants to enhance the immune response.

+ Why vaccinate against diseases that are no longer common? Vaccination has been successful in controlling certain diseases so it’s easy to forget how dangerous they can be. Without continued vaccination, the few cases we have could quickly become tens or hundreds of thousands.

+ Can my child get the disease from the vaccine? Most vaccines do not contain live pathogens, and those that do are weakened and cannot cause disease in healthy individuals. The immune response they stimulate is enough to build immunity but not enough to cause illness.

+ What if my child has a reaction? If you believe your child has a reaction to a vaccine, contact your healthcare provider immediately. Severe reactions are rare, but they need to be assessed and managed by a medical professional. For minor reactions like fever or irritability, simple remedies like a cool cloth or acetaminophen can be used.

+ How can I make the vaccination process easier for my child? To help ease the discomfort, you can hold your child snugly, distract them with a toy or song, and apply a cool compress to the injection site afterwards. Ensure they are well-rested and fed before the visit and speak calmly to help them feel secure.

+ Are You Required to Vaccinate? Vaccination is recommended by health professionals and public health authorities, but it is not federally mandated in the United States. However, all 50 states require children to be vaccinated against certain diseases to enroll in public schools, unless a valid exemption is obtained. These exemptions can be medical, for children with conditions that make vaccination unsafe; religious, for families with religious objections to vaccinations; or philosophical, where allowed, for those with personal or moral beliefs against vaccination.

+ Can vaccines be given to a child who is sick? When considering whether to vaccinate a child who is currently sick, the key factor to assess is the severity of their illness. For children who are only mildly ill, such as common cold that is resolving, vaccinations can generally be administered, but often, parents choose to delay until the child is fully recovered. However, if a child is experiencing a more severe illness, especially with a high fever or a systemic infection, it is usually advisable to postpone vaccination. Allowing a child to recover fully before administering vaccines ensures that their body is better equipped to handle the immunization process and reduces any potential stress on their immune system.

+ What factors should I take into account when weighing risks versus the benefits of a vaccine? When deciding on vaccinations for your child, it's crucial to consider a comprehensive set of factors that balance personal health needs with public health responsibilities. First, familiarize yourself with the CDC’s recommended vaccine schedule or your local public health guidelines, which are designed to protect children at their most vulnerable stages from serious diseases. This will help you understand why certain vaccines are recommended at specific ages. Additionally, take into account your family’s health history; issues such as autoimmune diseases, genetic conditions, or immune deficiencies can influence the timing or selection of vaccines. It’s also important to consider any past vaccine reactions within your family. While mild reactions like fever are common, more serious reactions are rare but should be discussed with your healthcare provider to determine any necessary precautions.

Assess the disease risk and local disease prevalence. Understanding the risks associated with vaccine-preventable illnesses and the local incidence of these diseases can inform the likelihood of exposure and the protective benefits of vaccination. Furthermore, every vaccine carries some level of risk, and being informed about vaccine ingredients and potential adverse effects will aid in making a well-considered decision.

Navigating these considerations can be complex, but they provide a structured approach to making informed choices that best suit your child’s health needs while considering broader community health implications. Consulting with a trusted pediatrician is invaluable in this process, ensuring that decisions are well-informed and that your child’s health and safety are prioritized.

5 Things Dave Asprey Wants You to Know About Rewiring Your Mind for Success

Dave Asprey isn’t just about optimizing health—he’s about upgrading human potential. The OG biohacker, founder of Bulletproof, and creator of 40 Years of Zen has spent decades exploring how to rewire the brain for peak performance. His latest book, Heavily Meditated, takes a deep dive into meditation like you’ve never seen before—fusing ancient practices with modern tech to unlock altered states, boost cognitive function, and tap into unlimited energy.

This isn’t your typical mindfulness guide. Asprey’s approach pulls in breathwork, neurofeedback, sexual energy, and even controlled pain to help you break through mental barriers and reach new levels of focus, resilience, and creativity. Ready to go beyond basic meditation? Here are five key takeaways from Heavily Meditated to help you master your mind and body.

Dave Asprey's Top 5 Tips to Become Heavily Meditated

When I was in my mid-20s my brain was trashed. I was failing out of business school, had constant brain fog and was triggered by everything. The most muscular part of my body was my middle finger. When a brain scan revealed total chaos happening in my brain I made it my mission to learn about the most effective ways to improve brain performance. I've traveled around the world to Nepal and Tibet to learn meditation from the masters. I’ve also spent over 3 months of my life with electrodes glued to my head doing neurofeedback. Along the way I’ve learned what works and what doesn’t and that’s what I teach in my new book, Heavily Meditated. Here I’m going to share five of my top tips you can start today to improve your brain and your energy.

The power of forgiveness

Stored traumas – big and small - are holding you back from reaching your full potential. Fear is energetically expensive and storing triggers in your subconscious takes up a lot of your energy. This leaves you with little to no energy left to do other things that matter like playing with your kids or writing a book. The solution? Forgiveness. Forgiveness isn’t about telling someone what they did to you was OK. It’s about letting go of the grip that person and the trigger have on you. The trick is you have to feel forgiveness in your body in order for it to work. At 40 Years of Zen, my neuroscience facility, we have found that the most effective way to feel forgiveness is with something called The Reset Process. This involves going through a series of steps to forgive whoever wronged you so you can release the trigger. You can find the full version of this technique in the new book.

Do some breathwork

You can enter altered states similar to ones you’d get with advanced meditation or psychedelics simply by changing the way you breathe. There are endless types of breathwork you can do. I walk you through several in Heavily Meditated. One of my favorites is the box breath. Use this one when you want more zen in your life. Here’s how you do it: Get comfy, sit up straight, and take a breath in through your nose for a count of four. Hold it at the top for a count of four. Exhale through your nose gently for a count of four. Hold at the bottom for a count of four. Repeat for a few rounds until you feel calm.

Intuition over ego

Your ego and your intuition are powerful forces in your mind, shaping how you perceive and interact with the world. They're like two different operating systems running in your brain, each with its own agenda and way of processing information. Your ego is there to keep you alive and make you look good. Your intuition is your “inner-knowing” and it’s usually right. So, how do you start tuning into your intuition? Intuition is the first thing you feel in your body before your emotions (ego) get in the way. When someone says "go with your gut feeling”, they're referring to your intuition. The more you listen to your intuition, the better you’ll get at doing so. When you practice listening to your intuition, you make smarter choices that save you energy.

Get curious

Fear wastes a lot of energy. Unfortunately, most of us walk around in constant fight-or-flight mode. It’s not your fault. Your body has a built-in system that’s designed to keep you alive just in case you’re chased by a predator. Luckily you don’t have to worry about being chased by a predator, but that doesn’t mean that your body isn’t still constantly scanning for threats - like a work deadline or a family member that you don’t quite get along with. Here’s something to try next time you feel fearful – get curious. Curiosity is the antidote to fear. Next time something makes you feel anxious, instead of immediately flying off the handle, get curious - “Hmm, that’s interesting. I wonder why I’m feeling like this? Is this really a threat?” You’ll feel the tension immediately dissipate.

Brief Intentional Conscious Exposure to Pain (BICEP)

When you push yourself through an intense sprint workout or spend five minutes in an ice bath, you set off a cascade of feel-good endorphins throughout your body (This is also why some people get tattoos or love eating hot chili peppers!). I call it BICEP which stands for Brief, Intentional Conscious Exposure to Pain. BICEP helps you recalibrate your brain's reward system, which may be a little dysregulated by instant gratification from modern technology. By regularly exposing yourself to this type of controlled stress, you're training your body to become more resilient and responsive to natural dopamine triggers. When you do something challenging in the morning it makes everything else in your day seem like a breeze and you become a more pleasant, calm person. So, take the morning cold plunge, do a brief HIIT workout, or sweat it out in a hot sauna.

Living Well with May Lindstrom, Founder of May Lindstrom Skin: On the Magic Behind the Blue Cocoon, the Best Advice She’s Ever Received + Her Current Skincare Rountine

Step into the world of May Lindstrom Skin, where skincare isn’t just a routine—it’s a ritual. Known for her meticulous formulations and luxurious, sensorial approach to beauty, May Lindstrom has cultivated a devoted following with her artisanal, skin-loving creations. At the heart of it all? The Blue Cocoon, a cult-favorite balm that has earned near-mystical status for its ability to soothe, restore, and transform the skin with a single indulgent touch.

In this edition of Living Well, we sit down with May herself—founder, formulator, and true skincare alchemist—to talk about the inspiration behind her signature blue balm to the daily rituals she swears by, get ready to glow deeper with May Lindstrom.

Living Well With May Lindstrom

My Skincare Philosophy:Our company was built on a big, ‘what if’. What if we cut no corners? What if we used the very best ingredients in the world? What if we took exceptional care from seed to soil to bottle? What if we could deliver real results to the kinds of people who really, really need something that goes beyond moisturizing, beyond cleansing, to nourish and heal the skin?

And then, what if that was the prettiest, most special-feeling skincare, too? What if every person wanted this? What if the aspirational thing was to simply feel good in our skin?

What if skincare could just feel good?

How I started: I’ve been formulating results-oriented, sensitive-skin-centric, sensorial skincare for more than two decades. It’s always been a very personal mission.

One of my first memories of skin was washing up as a five-year-old child at a friend’s house before dinner. Immediately after I dispensed the fragrant soap onto my palms, the skin on my hands flushed red and broke out in a burning rash. We ultimately learned I was allergic to many of the most basic ingredients in conventional skincare, causing my ultra-sensitive body to erupt in painful blisters and chronic redness and discomfort.

Early on, I learned from my bodyworker healer mama how to use clays, salts, herbs, oils, and honey to cleanse, feed, and soothe my skin. Years later, I more formally studied plant-based formulation, focusing on creating bespoke blends for private clients with general sensitivity to synthetic skincare ingredients, like me, as well as those with painful and inflammatory conditions like eczema, rosacea, and dermatitis.

The May Lindstrom Skin collection officially launched in 2011, finally bringing my private formulas to the public.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received, and how do you incorporate it into your life or business? When I was a child, my mom always told me to keep my light bright, to not turn down my sparkle to fit in or hide. I took this also as permission to bring my weird, to not dim the parts that felt different. We’re in a culture that reinforces sameness, and in both my life and business, I’ve always broken the expected template and forged my own path. Sometimes I’m confident, and sometimes I’m shaking, but always when I double down on what’s truly fundamental to me, what’s really important, the more I see the world sparkle back.

Current Skincare Routine:I wake most mornings, splash with warm water at the sink until I feel my skin soften under my fingertips, and then melt The Blue Cocoon (ultra-soothing, blue tansy-infused, daily moisturizing concentrate) between my palms, breathing in, massaging directly into the wetness. Sometimes this is it, all I need. But most often, I like to layer or blend with The Youth Dew (a bright and juicy, vitamin-packed glow serum), and The Jasmine Garden (a calming, clearing, kiss of a mood-boosting mist, dripping in flowers and cooling colloidal silver).

If I’m showering, I’ll exfoliate with The Clean Dirt first. (I do this 2-3x weekly, so it’s perfect to pair with shampoo days) This powder-to-mousse herbal formula smells like holiday cookies and bubbles and fizzes as it brightens and decongests. It’s a must for flakiness and feels ridiculously pleasurable in the steam, its tingle invigorating skin over the neck, breasts, armpits, and anywhere that needs a little extra love.

I alternate treatments of The Clean Dirt with masking with The Problem Solver. This is a warming clay and charcoal-infused mask that comforts and calms when the skin just feels off, finicky, sensitive, red, breaking out, or experiencing any kind of inflammation or discomfort. (I get this one on as often as possible - up to 4x weekly, equally good am or pm).

I reach for The Pendulum Potion when I’m craving a steamy, ultra-grounding oil cleanse (especially when wearing makeup/spf) paired with our exfoliating towels. This is an esthetician favorite for opening a facial. And then, The Honey Mud is a decadent, acid-infused dream that doubles as both a mask (in the form of a soft, rich pudding smoothed over dry skin) and cleanser (where it transforms to a silky milk when massaged into wet skin).

For the body, I rotate or blend The Good Stuff (sexy, chocolatey, shimmering, sensually aromatic golden goodness - our original body hero) and The Happy Galaxy (cerulean blue, bright and effervescent, bouncy, skin-loving nourishment infused with a plethora of vitamin actives and hero humectants - like a supercharged Blue Cocoon for neck to toes).

Can’t Live Without My: Glass quart jar of water, always at my side.

If I Could Give One Piece of Advice on Skincare/Health, it would be: Tune into your skin’s unique needs with your fingertips, noticing heat, texture, and sensation, rather than just looking with your eyes or following a prescriptive routine. There’s a relationship to build here and it just gets better and better the more you feed it.

3 Staples Always in My Medicine Cabinet: Honey. Oil. Salt.

What are some non-skincare rituals or habits that are essential to your overall well-being? I have a 5-minute-a-day commitment to my body in the morning. I can just roll around in ‘Happy Baby’, dance to two songs off a playlist, dry brush before the shower, or run up the hill with my dog. The point is to take just that handful of minutes and really show up, be conscious of my body on purpose, and make it feel as wonderful as I can for that brief moment.

What’s one skincare ingredient you’re obsessed with right now?Our ridiculously good rose cellular water. This soothing, aromatic fluid makes up part of the formula for The Jasmine Garden and is one of the most expensive raw materials we source. Worth every penny. I’ve been misting generously with this on ultra-sensitive skin mornings, skipping a cleanse altogether, and it’s been a real gift. It’s gorgeous all throughout the day to bring moisture and calm. We might have to bottle this on its own someday!

The Blue Cocoon has a cult following. What’s the story behind its creation, and what makes it so special? This is absolutely our number one, our landslide best-seller, and the single thing I never, ever miss on my skin, morning and night. It’s really the first of its kind and is known for putting blue tansy on the map. I originally made this formula to support clients with damaged skin during chemotherapy and health challenges, but it’s my favorite I can recommend to just about everyone. It’s wonderful for dryness and heat and is simply the most beautiful, concentrated daily moisturizer you could dream of for all skin types.

My most important wellness goal this year: It’s time to break my phone habit. I’m online a lot in general and spend way too much time on social media. This is where I get to talk directly with our community (I value this soooo much!), so I don’t want to pull the plug completely, but the number of daily hours I’m attached to a screen has gotten absurd. This is the moment to practice what I preach and really return to presence, to touch, breath, body, and connection to self, spirit, and each other.

Star-Crossed or Soul-Aligned? How Astrology and Human Design Can Transform Relationships

Ever feel like you're speaking a different language than your partner? Or wonder why the same patterns keep showing up in your relationships? The answers might be written in the stars—or even in your unique Human Design.

We sat down with Amy Lea, a renowned astrologer, Human Design analyst, and energy practitioner, to explore how these tools can help you navigate love with more clarity and ease. Known for her holistic approach, Amy weaves together Astrology, Human Design, somatic practices, and strengths-based leadership to guide people toward deeper self-trust and authentic connection.

Using Human Design and Astrology to Deepen Your Connection

Human Design is a transformative system that blends ancient wisdom—astrology, the Chinese I Ching, the Judaic Tree of Life, and the Hindu Brahmin Chakra System—with modern sciences like quantum mechanics and biology. Together, they create a detailed blueprint of who you are. Think of it as an instruction manual for your energy, decision-making, and life purpose.

Human Design was received, or channelled, by Robert Krakower (Ra Uru Hu) in 1987 in a mystical experience. He initially received what he called The Design of Forms, and Human Design was just one component of this. Over 8 days, Krakower received the transmission of the system and how all of the ancient systems it draws from are interconnected. He then spent the remainder of his life teaching and educating others about Human Design and its practical applications to everyday life.

At its core, Human Design is about understanding your energy type, strategy, and decision-making authority. Your energy type is akin to your Sun sign in astrology, but instead of focusing on personality, it describes how your aura interacts with the world. Your strategy, derived from your energy type, guides you in aligning with the right opportunities. Meanwhile, your authority is your unique method of making aligned decisions, helping you stay true to yourself rather than being influenced by external conditioning.

Initially, the Human Design journey is deeply personal, fostering greater self-awareness. However, a natural next step is exploring the designs of those closest to you—especially partners and children. This is where the real magic happens. When paired with astrological insights, these systems offer powerful tools to improve communication, resolve conflict, and strengthen relationships with ease and grace. For anyone starting their journey, I recommend exploring your Human Design Chart and astrology calculator through a tool like bodygraph.com.

Using Human Design and astrology to enhance our relationships allows us to support the highest expression of our loved ones while also advocating for our own needs. Here are some of the most significant ways I incorporate these systems to create healthier, more harmonious relationships:

Honouring Their Decision-Making Process

One of the first things I consider is the other person's decision-making authority. I don’t expect them to process things the way I do; instead, I respect their unique approach to making decisions. For example, I have Splenic Authority, which means I make instinctive, intuitive decisions in the moment. However, if I’m dating someone with Emotional Authority, they require time to process their feelings before reaching clarity. Rather than expecting them to decide immediately, I encourage them to take their time, sleep on decisions, and talk things through when needed.

Supportive Conflict Resolution

Conflict resolution is crucial in any relationship. Many relationship experts advise against going to bed angry, but this doesn’t work for everyone. Some people, including myself, need time to process their emotions before revisiting a discussion. Communicating this need has been life-changing for me. Now, rather than forcing a resolution in the moment and feeling frustrated later, I let people know I need time to reflect and will return to the conversation in a day or two.

Empowering Their Strategy

Understanding a person's strategy—whether they’re designed to initiate, respond, or wait for an invitation—removes much of the guesswork in relationships. It also minimizes overthinking. Even if someone isn’t familiar with Human Design, I can still encourage them to follow their natural strategy. For example:

+ Manifestors thrive when they initiate and follow their urges.

+ Generators and Manifesting Generators are at their best when they respond to what excites them.

+ Projectors need to feel seen and recognized to know who to give their attention and energy to.

+ Reflectors require time to align with their monthly lunar cycle.

By supporting their natural way of operating, I help them align with what’s correct for them, leading to greater harmony in our relationship.

Recognising Connection Needs

Human Design also sheds light on how individuals connect in relationships. The concept of Definition (No Definition, Single, Split, Triple-Split, or Quadruple-Split) impacts a person’s needs for interaction and how they process information. Essentially, it describes how your energy field plugs into others and the process you take in assimilating information and making sense of the world around you. Some people naturally require more space and independence (single definition), while others thrive on deep one-on-one connections (no definition, split definition and quadruple-split definition) or larger social interactions (no definition and triple-split definition). Some people process independently (single definition), and others need to plug into different people and environments (all other definition types).

By understanding these differences, we can meet each other with compassion rather than resistance. If someone needs more or less connection than I do, I no longer see it as a problem but rather as an intrinsic part of who they are. Instead of trying to change them, I honour and champion their natural tendencies.

Understanding How They Give & Receive Love & Nurturing

Combining Human Design with astrology offers even deeper insights into how our loved ones bond and feel nurtured. Your partner’s Moon and Venus signs can reveal insight about their emotional needs and love language:

+ Fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius): Thrive on passion, adventure, and exciting shared experiences.

+ Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn): Feel loved through stability, practicality, and sensual, grounding experiences.

+ Air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius): Appreciate words of affirmation, intellectual stimulation, and fun, lighthearted interactions.

+ Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces): Desire emotional depth, vulnerability, and soulful connections.

Understanding Human Design and astrology isn’t about boxing people into categories; it’s about unlocking the tools to support each other in the most authentic way possible. When we embrace these insights, we not only cultivate deeper self-awareness but also create more harmonious and fulfilling relationships. By honoring our differences, advocating for our needs, and championing the unique ways our loved ones move through the world, we step into a space of greater love, acceptance, and connection.

Minimalist, Chic, and Effortless: The Art of Tablescaping with Hashi Home

There’s something undeniably magical about a beautifully set table—it’s where meals become memories, where conversation flows effortlessly, and where even the simplest ingredients feel like an occasion. But creating an elegant, intentional tablescape isn’t just about the right plates and linens; it’s about storytelling, balance, and embracing the beauty of imperfection.

Jazmin Valdes Hamid, the visionary behind Hashi Home, a New York-based homeware brand that fuses the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi with the warmth of Peruvian design. Through handcrafted ceramics and timeless pieces, Hashi Home redefines the way we gather—bringing an effortless yet elevated aesthetic to the modern table.

We sat down with Jazmin to talk all things tablescapes—how to create a setting that feels intentional yet effortless, how her cultural roots influence her design aesthetic, and why a little imperfection makes for the most memorable dining experiences. Whether you're hosting an intimate dinner or just looking to make everyday meals feel a little more special, her perspective will have you rethinking the way you set the table.

Setting the perfect table with Hashi Home

What inspired you to start Hashi Home, and how do you see it redefining the way we think about home décor?
Hashi Home is a reflection of my Japanese and Peruvian heritage. 2 geographically distant cultures– yet both share a deep reverence for nature, craftsmanship, and the beauty of simplicity. Growing up, the women in my life taught me the importance of celebrating the small details and the value of making things with your hands. This was a way for me to merge my obsession with design and roots in a way that felt functional and meaningful.

Home décor is not about filling your space up with things, rather curating meaningful objects that reflect who we are and how we live. Our homes are an extension of ourselves, and the objects we choose should resonate with us on a deeper level. For me, that’s slowing down and enjoying the quiet simple moments. At Hashi Home, we believe in elevating everyday routines into rituals through design.

Your designs blend the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi with Peruvian design elements. Can you describe a specific piece or collection that best exemplifies this fusion, and what story does it tell?
Our Duna and Dunita Sets are the perfect example of blending wabi-sabi with Peruvian craftsmanship. The plates are handcrafted by master artisans in Peru using a traditional Japanese technique called “nerikomi,” which involves layering different hand dyed clays to create intricate designs that mimic nature’s raw beauty. Each plate is one-of-a-kind, with variations in shape, texture, and color—imperfections are not only expected, they’re encouraged. It was important for me that the designs visibly show the trace of the maker’s hands, honoring the process and the artistry behind each piece.

The earth tones and organic shapes reflect both the simplicity and the depth of nature, while the process honors the craft of both Japanese and Peruvian traditions. This collection tells a story of how different cultures and philosophies can come together to create something truly timeless and beautiful—celebrating imperfection, individuality, and the artistry of handcraft.

What are the key elements of a minimalist yet elevated tablescape that can instantly transform a dining experience?
The best go-to is a neutral tablecloth with texture; think linen or cotton. These materials have a natural, understated elegance that create the perfect base layer without overwhelming the space. The key to a minimalist table is quality over quantity. Focus on a couple standout pieces– like glassware, plates, or pitchers– that have a strong aesthetic presence. Layer them in with simple pieces like silverware, napkins, and candles. When you choose a few carefully designed elements, they set the tone and create a refined look that feels effortless and elevated.

What’s your approach to mixing materials like ceramics, wood, and textiles to create visual harmony on the table?
I love mixing materials because it creates layers of depth and visual interest. This is a great way to play with contrast and textures. Ceramics, wood, metals, stone, and linens all bring something unique to the table. The goal is to mix various textures; smooth and reflective with tactile and matte. These elements should complement each other, not complete. For instance, the smooth texture of a neutral colored glazed plate pairs beautifully with the rough texture of stone candlestick, a smokey glass, and silverware. Linens always add a softness that balances out the heavier materials, and more texture. When done intentionally, these small details elevate the table.

How do you adapt your tablescapes for different seasons or occasions without overcomplicating the design?
Different seasons are a wonderful opportunity to play with elements that reflect the time of year. I like to start with a color palette in mind, for example in the fall I go with browns, rich deep reds, and rust orange. I like to keep the base neutral and bring in color through dry florals, candlesticks, cutlery, or glassware. The key is to keep things simple without over complicating the design, having a clear color palette really helps the decision making. Also, I’ve been experimenting with seasonal fruits and vegetables as decor– they add texture and visual interest.

For someone just starting their homeware collection, what are three essential pieces to invest in?
1. Handcrafted Plates (like the Duna Set): These are functional pieces that you’ll use daily, and they set the tone for your entire table. When you invest in high-quality, handmade plates, you’re investing in both beauty and purpose.
2. Linen Napkins: Simple, yet transformative. Linen napkins bring an elevated, elegant and effortless touch to any table. I especially love ones with small details like fringe or a piping border.
3. An Elegant Pitcher: I believe pitchers are often underrated, yet can make a bold statement, especially when they have a sculptural design. The Georg Jensen Kople Pitcher in Black is a perfect example of this.

Are there any common mistakes you see people make when setting a table, and how can they avoid them to achieve a more elevated look?
Overcrowding the table with too many items, which can feel messy and uninviting. Instead, focus on fewer, meaningful pieces. Consider balance and flow. Make sure the items you place on the table are functional and proportionate. Don’t place large items in the middle of the table if it obstructs conversation. Remember that the point of gathering is to connect and share stories. Decor plays a role in creating the ambiance and setting the mood, but it should not overshadow the whole experience.

What’s your vision for Hashi Home’s future? Are there plans to expand beyond homeware and tablescapes into other areas of design or lifestyle?
No matter what we do, I want Hashi Home to always stay true to the art of generational craftsmanship and natural materials. We’re currently exploring new products in stone and wood, bringing even more of that earthy, tactile quality to our collections. Peru has a rich heritage of Alpaca and Vicuña fibers—two incredibly luxurious materials for the home which I’m excited to explore in the future.

Whether they’re using it solo or with a partner, this is one gift that definitely won’t get re-gifted.

For the One Who Believes Style is the Ultimate Love Language
G. LABEL BY GOOP Faux-Fur High-Collar Jacket

Some pieces don’t just complete an outfit—they set the entire tone. This G. Label by Goop faux-fur jacket is one of them. With its sculpted high collar, plush texture, and cropped sleeves, it channels a kind of effortless glamour that feels equally at home on the streets of Paris as it does draped over a silk slip at a candlelit dinner.

It’s not just about staying warm—it’s about making an entrance. Pair it with structured tailoring for contrast, or let it be the drama over something sleek and minimal. Either way, it’s the kind of piece that turns heads without trying too hard.
